Brakes Service and Repairs Checklist
- Check wheel nuts are correctly torqued after brake work
- Inspect brake pads for wear and remaining thickness
- Final brake safety inspection and road test
- Inspect brake discs/rotors for wear, cracks and scoring
- Check brake calipers and pistons for correct operation
- Inspect brake hoses and pipes for leaks or damage
- Check brake fluid level and condition
- Test brake fluid for moisture where required
- Inspect brake master cylinder
- Check brake booster and vacuum system
- Inspect handbrake/parking brake operation
- Check electronic parking brake operation where fitted
- Inspect ABS sensors and wiring
- Scan the ABS/brake control system for fault codes
- Check brake pedal feel and travel
- Replace worn brake pads
- Road test the vehicle and assess braking performance
- Replace damaged or excessively worn brake discs/rotors
- Replace or repair brake calipers where necessary
- Replace damaged brake hoses or brake lines
- Flush and replace brake fluid when required
- Adjust or repair parking brake components
- Clean and lubricate appropriate brake components
- Repair or replace faulty ABS components
